Re: XMP metadata lost in PNG files

I just discovered that Ps does not preserve metadata in .png (ditto acrobat in .pdf). this discovery really throws me for a loop. it seems that one of the most important issues facing graphic artists and their companies is Digital Asset Management (DAM). there is a tremendous proliferation of files in even my small (architecture) office. i researched DAM solutions and elected to use Bridge, even given its limitations, for DAM. now, to discover now that photoshop and acrobat do not preserve metadata information i do not know what to do. why is this not the first thing that the engineers would build into a save algorithm? i think it at the very least disengenious that adobe touts their leadership in the domain of xmp standards for metadata and then does not impliment even the most minimal of functionality in a file format that is as important as pdf or a program that is as ubiquitious as Ps. i built my keyword list and the templates over the last 6 months. now i find these are worthless for any file that requires even the smalles graphic tweak. if there is another option for my graphic work and for DAM i will take it. meanwhile i'll learn fireworks. i guess i should have know: the xml interface is a mess, utterly inconsistant across programs and now worthless outside of a narrow range of file formats. photographers are not the only ones who need DAM. bridge is now useless for me.
